I plead to all my fellow Finns: Let's start acting like a civilized nation and stop sending our yearly sacrifice to that repressive and objectifying meat-market called the Miss Universe Competition. We should show the world that we're better than that.
We're way past the 1950s patriarchality and gender stereotypes that the Miss Universe competition represents. The shallowness of the Miss Universe competition just doesn't fit the contemporary Finnish values very well. I wonder if anyone can sincerely argue that we need the Miss Universe competition.

Yeah, you're absolutely right. But there will always be women who want to compete there. Should we really stop them?
I agree with you Matti. It seems like such an outdated practice.
I hope that this statement won't come back to haunt me though when I join the Mr. Universe competition. I don't want to be called a hypocrite.
